Desire is a strong and recurrent theme in life and Scripture. Desire for human love, communion with the divine, and to find where we fit.

In life we are informed and formed by what we attend to. Our choices make this a life giving circle or a vicious circle that diminishes us.

Jesus said "I have not come to bring peace but a sword." Hard words for most of us but words of life if we will attend.

We are called to be as wise as serpents and as innocent as doves. This requires holding the two images together in a holy third way.

The idea of God as Trinity means that loving relationship is at the centre of the heart of God and therefore the universe!

That first Pentecost emboldened, liberated and transformed those first followers. We are invited into that same experience.

The time between Ascension and Pentecost is a time of in-between, of hope and anticipation, absence and anticipation, a liminal space.

The great love of God is our Source and our Destination and Jesus invites us into its flow.

The good news is that we have been given a way, a spiritual path, on which we can travel further and further into the heart of God.

In this wonderful story known as the Emmaus Road Walk we are reminded that resurrection is a mysterious business.

I am grateful that this story of questions and doubt is part of our tradition for it makes room for you and I and our questions.
